I find it odd that at this stage of my life, I’m hanging out with a bunch of athletes. These athletes are all sizes, ages, and shapes, and I actually fit in.
Through my journey, I have accomplished many goals, the biggest being a half marathon. Even athletes will admit that 13.1 miles is a long way to go for an old guy like me! I’m training for another one.
What I’ve learned is that there is a value to Team. This applies in athletics, but also in business and our families. Team Runners Lane is mentioned regularly in my writings because this Team is my Team.
The Team concept was made clear to me at a Team Runners Lane dinner celebration where we celebrated our #hashtagnar Team. They just completed a Ragnar Trail Race, a challenging relay event on roads or trails that is ALL about Team. When Captain Mark, one of the team leaders spoke, he mentioned that some teams quit. Really? Our Team does not quit. This is a grueling event that really needs a team to work. Running a 24-hour relay in grungy conditions with little to no sleep in not an individual sport. Teams stick together and do it.
Captain Mark and another team member Amy Birnkrant helped me do my 3-mile race in the Down and Dirty Obstacle Race. Being part of a team means we can be best positioned to accomplish our individual personal goals.
I’ve been sharing my wellness journey on my SuccessFit4Life!™ Blog. One post, #RLAntiExcuseProject, refers to Team Runners Lane not making excuses. There are times it’s hot and times when it’s cold. Times when you are tired and times when you hurt. But through these times we try to not make excuses for why we can’t move.
When I write this I cringe because I know there are times I do make excuses for not being more active, but I also live in reality. This is not about guilt, but it is about encouraging people. Frankly, when I don’t feel like running, I go because I like hanging out with my friends at Team Runners Lane.
Our wellness program SuccessFit4Life! was birthed from what I have experienced and the life changing relationships I have built through Team Runners Lane. I realized that if an old, formally fatter guy with a fused ankle can get active, anyone can.
In SuccessFit4Life! we have defined “success” as not about money or position. It’s about achieving the goals you define. We created this program to inspire, encourage and motivate people on their wellness journey…wherever they want to go.
We’ve also created SuccessFit4Life! WELLNESS PROGRAMS for businesses and organizations of all sizes. There are three components:
A custom branded website featuring wellness content.
A personalized wellness challenge program that easily configures challenges based on competitive metrics and goal setting.
Branded products used as incentives for achieving goals.
Wellness programs are hot!! Dr. Roger Sahoury, author of Gladiators Guide to Corporate Health and Wellness notes, “It’s amazing to learn that 55% of workers identified a workforce wellness program as an instrument in improving their overall well-being.”
In addition to changing lives through healthier living, we are changing kid’s lives through the amazing organization, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. We have created a simple model that will enable business and organizations to raise money for St. Jude, and/or the non-profit organization of their choice.
SuccessFit4Life! EVENTS create powerful branding opportunities while enhancing relationships and giving back to worthy causes!
