Death of the Camp Shirt!

June 22, 2016

True confession.  I’m an old, formally fatter guy. It seems that a one piece of clothing that never goes out of style for old, fat guys is the classic camp shirt.

Through the years I have loved my camp shirts!  They are SO comfortable and I’ve had a closet full of them. (Have had)  After losing a few pounds, my thought is that camp shirts actually make old, fat guys look fatter.

By being somewhat active and eating somewhat reasonably active, I have lost some weight.  Most of my clothes were way too big.  For a while, my wife suggested I check out SLIM pants from American Eagle Outfitters. That’s a place for young, thin people and I blew off that idea. SLIM pants…really? I’m an old, formally fatter guy. Ultimately, I succumbed to that suggestion and amazingly, the AE SLIM fit pants fit great…and actually make me look SLIMMER.

It’s scary, but I decided to dump my old, fat clothes. I filled up a couple of trash bags and felt I HAD to take a picture with a camp shirt.  It’s kind of shocking to me when I look at it. Those clothes will bless many people and I am filling my closet with new smaller size clothing. I will probably never be super thin and I’m OK with that. I’m not going on some crazy diet that I will fail on. My goal is to be realistic with my weight and what I eat. That works for me.

I needed to get a new suit for my son’s graduation.  Since I don’t wear suits often, I was a bit surprised at how big my old suit was. I lost at least 4 inches from my waist. This is simply from being more active and eating reasonably. Trust me, my diet needs some work. I still eat some crap…but I eat less of it.

My intent is not to offend anyone with my posts, so if you love camp shirts that’s OK.

My goal here is simply to share my successes and my fails to push forward the SuccessFit4Life!™ health and wellness message. We all have a choice as to how we live. If this old, formally fatter guy can change…I think anyone can.
