I didn’t really get running, until I got into running. Often when you see runners, running they seem to be grimacing in pain. Runners never seem to be happy. But we know they are.
As I’ve embarked on my running journey, I try to be a good Ambassador for the sport. It’s odd to me that I now find myself being “that guy” who is running while others are driving to work, or home from work. Drivers see runners on the road all the time. I feel it’s my “ministry” to represent runners as people who are happy to be running, so I make it a point to smile when I’m in situations like this where cars can see me running.
I try not to be “that guy” with a pained look on my face…like when will this agony be over? My goal is to portray the JOY of running. The freedom we have to be out experiencing whatever we want our run to be. It could be a fast run, it could be a slow run. It could be focused on a distance…or just about clearing your head from the insanity of life. It’s seems some of my most brilliant thoughts come while running…or at least I think they are brilliant at the time. It is weird when I talk these great thoughts into my app Evernote while running. Voice recognition does a horrible job interpreting what I was trying to say, but with a little work I can figure it out and reflect on that experience.
Enjoy the journey…wherever you want to go!
