In Southern California, spring and summer give us long days and the opportunity to hit the trails. I have come to enjoy the trails, but they are challenging. We have hills and heat. In addition there are uneven surfaces and rocks which are kind an issue for this old guy with a fused ankle. I really need to be careful.
Like most of what motivates me, I enjoy hanging meeting with my friends from Runners Lane. It would be very easy for me to not go. There are all kinds of reasons why I shouldn’t go. It’s hot, I’m tired and I have too much to do. Setting myself up for no excuses, I did write a piece on the #RLAntiExcuseProject. Realistically, there are good reasons to not go at times and that’s ok. For the most part however, I just want to stay motivated…and get out to do stuff.
Another good reason to go is sharing adventures with Kona, our shepherd/husky mix rescue puppy. This is a dog that needs to get out…and she loves these trail events. Here, Flo T. Mina and Mel Bautista graciously stop on their journey down the hill for this gratuitous picture with Kona, that’s a perfect fit for this blog post.
How could I not want to bless this awesome dog with these trail outings?
Another motivating factor for me is sharing these adventures through my SuccessFit4Life!™ blog. My life is not all that exciting and why should you care about the stuff I’m doing to stay active? You probably don’t, so stop reading.
There is a reason I do this. I tell people that posting in our SuccessFit4Life! Facebook Group is not about them, it’s about encouraging others to be active. This is what SuccessFit4Life! is all about.
As SuccessFit4Life! develops, we have other thing happening that are very exciting. One is making St. Jude Children’s Hospital a beneficiary of funds raised from various SuccessFit4Life! EVENTS around the country. This program was created to change lives. Call me crazy, but I actually think we can.
