I’ve been sharing steps along my journey training for a half marathon. I’m just an old, heavy guy with a fused ankle and it kind of blows me away just acknowledging that. When I started this I was journey happy to go a mile.
On our Thursday evening runs, we go three miles. Only three miles! That’s easy now. In the training training program for the half marathon our miles for longer runs vary. I’ve done 10 miles twice, 11 and 12 miles once. 13.1 miles is a long way! I’ll be nervous as race day approaches, but I know I can do it. I’m slow, but who cares? I have a goal and I WILL accomplish it.
Even though I don’t feel I am qualified, I am. Why, because I’ve done the work. And I’ve followed the direction of Flo T. Mina from Runners Lane (shown here) who leads us on our training journey.
Right now, getting through this half is my focus. After that, I need to get back to doing more cycling, running…and God forbid swimming, which I really hate. (Who likes swimming?)
My sports chiropractor, Dr Mark Barraza is suggesting I go for a Triathlon. The “Sprint Level” would be within my fitness ability, so that may be the next goal. We’ll see.
The SuccessFit4Life! vision has been birthed from a desire to encourage others, as I have been encouraged. Wherever you are in your life, I suggest you just get out and do something. It will be life changing!
